Getting familiar at STRANGELOVES

Well, a private party upstairs and the resulting packed house made things a bit tight at first for our Publetters debut at Strangeloves, a nice bi-level bar on 11th St. between Walnut and Locust in Center City Philadelphia (BTW: it’s from the same people who bring you Local 44 and Memphis Taproom ). But Strangeloves’ ingenious staff managed to snag us a choice spot, and soon we were off to the races. We had a full table of repeat Publetters writers–but we also converted the tables on either side of us to letter writers in a sterling example of the rule: Proximity is Affinity, which we just invented.

At evening’s end, we headed to the mailbox with 28 letters to beautiful downtown Burbank CA, Ridley Park PA, Kennett Square PA, Medford NJ (birthplace of the zen-punk band RUIN), Vatican City, ITALY (yup, more mail for the Pope!) ,  and Wexford, IRELAND, among other destinations.

We’ve got two more Tuesdays this month at Strangeloves (Jan. 20th & 27th) ... Join us, why don’t you? We start at 7 p.m. and keep going till around 9 p.m., or till writer’s cramp sets in!

Cheers, Nestor (Casa Papel) and Mike (Trophy Bikes), your Publetters hosts.
